We've just confirmed this year's Big Concert for Saturday July 14th. We're going back to the Fairfield Halls in Croydon where we were made so welcome last year, both by the venue and the wonderful audience. This year's concert will be bigger and better than ever so put the date in your diary and come on down for a wonderful evening's entertainment. Tickets will be on sale soon from the Fairfield Halls box office.
Looking forward to welcoming both current and new members back to our venues. We'll soon cheer you from the post-Christmas slump! On these cold nights, grab a scarf to keep your throat warm both before and after singing and come on down. You'll soon sing away those winter blues and feel full of the joys of spring. And once you've dumped any stresses and troubles on the floor, no need to take them away with you - we'll sweep them away afterwards :) See you there!
The new term is starting very soon, so why not come along and try it out and see how much fun we have in Popchoir! If you need some support on your first visit, by all means bring a friend (or two!) - The more the merrier! We'll be delighted to meet you and you'll soon feel at home. Popchoir have been invited to sing on the Piazza in Covent Garden on Thursday 15th December. Members will perform from the Popchoir repertoire during the evening including some classic Christmas songs to bring our unique sound right into the heart of London. As always, there is plenty to do and see in Covent Garden, from market stalls, delicious food and drink and Santa himself. So why not do some late night shopping to pick up those last minute gifts while enjoying the festive atmosphere and some wonderful singing!
For the second year running, Popchoir members joined forces to sing for 3 hours in the Whitgift Centre, collecting money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Adult and Teen choirs took turns on the stage for this marathon sing much to the delight of shoppers and traders alike. Another warm and generous reception from all those in Croydon who passed by and a fantastic amount of money raised for this worthy cause.
Our Christmas concerts are coming up - a wonderfully festive end to a fabulous term of singing. Popchoir members can be seen and heard at St Mildred's Centre, Addiscombe on Monday 5th December and in St Barnabas Hall, Dulwich Village on Wednesday 7th December. Doors open at 7.45pm Concerts start at 8.00pm. Adults £3.00
Popchoir performed a fabulously festive 1 1/2 hour set at the Christmas Ideal Home Exhibition on 20th November. Exhibition-goers were treated to a huge choir of around 95 members performing a fast-paced and varied repertoire of favourites which delighted the crowds and exhibitors alike. Check out the photos of our performance in the Gallery to see what a gorgeous setting it was for the Purple Popsters. We are delighted to announce that we have been asked to perform at the event again next year.
A massed choir of around 85 Popchoir members crammed on to the stage in Brockwell Park on bonfire night and gave a fantastic 45 minute performance to the enthusiastic crowd of 100,000 before the amazing firework display. Despite earlier forecasts, the weather remained fine enabling everyone to thoroughly enjoy the whole evening. Another brilliant event for Popchoir and a great time had by all.
Popchoir sang at the Giving Voice Awards dinner on Tuesday and received much praise from guests and staff at the star-studded event. The ceremony was beautifully staged in the Assembly Hall at Church House with Popchoir singing from the balcony. Quote of the night : "Popchoir's performance was the icing on the cake to a wonderful evening"
